After failing to get to the semi-finals for NSLI-Y, I was determined to do well at the CBYX interview. But I didn't know what to expect. At all. However, Google is my best friend, and a few searches put me on the right track. Check these links out:
AFS Wiki- Search around, there's some really useful stuff. Specifically, you may also want to look at the forms which the selection committee must fill out while interviewing you, available on this page, which you will definitely want to read carefully. Make sure you also read the Hallmarks of Successful Sending Applicants and Red Flags. They are by far the two most important pages you need to read. And even if you aren't applying through AFS, I still recommend you read this, because this applies to all applicants.
Cultures Shocked- This is the best forum for any of your study abroad inquiries, CBYX or not. I looked for sample host family letters here, and they were really helpful in crafting my own.
CBYX Official Site- Of course, you don't want to miss this one. Read each page carefully, especially the characteristics they look for!
