Studying abroad is a wonderful thing, and I recommend it to everyone, regardless of your language capabilities or preconceived notions about the experience.
However, I will tell you straight up that being an exchange student is not all fun and games. You might be thinking, "Of course it's not!" But really, you will not completely understand how hard it is to be an exchange student until you've experienced it.
Even for those of us to received scholarships to come to Germany, there have been some who went back home halfway through the year (or earlier). And of all that went home, I only know of one who was sent home by her implementing organization. That means that the rest went home on their own free will.
With that being said, I am not trying to scare you away from the experience, because the things you learn from study abroad are invaluable. So why not give it a shot today?

And then of course, there are always people who ask me what it is really like to be an exchange student. And to that I say, "Read my blog". But know that my experience is only representative of mine...so be sure to check out the other blogs too!
